These audio examples are taken from many different bands that I’ve played with over the years. I was primarily a teacher but played and toured constantly throughout my career with many fabulous players, in a variety of musical styles. All of these tunes are played in a very modern style. There is a lot of interplay between the various band members. Sometimes it sounds like everyone is soloing at the same time. This kind of interplay is what drew me to jazz, and if you listen closely, you'll hear how much the players are playing off one another.

I hope you enjoy the music…

Free Solo - from a recording I did at Berklee many years ago.

All The Things You Are - An old standard with a ‘mysterious’ guitar duo in the front
featuring John Abercrombie and Mick Goodrick. Pretty aggressive jazz tune, great guitar solos.

Five - A Bill Evans tune with polyrhythms of 5 and 4 in the melody. This live performance went many places; med swing 4/4, double time, free bag, and back. It was a lot of fun to play.

You're Everything is a famous samba by Chick Corea. The personnel are Tim Ray on piano, Dan Greenspan, and bass, and Wolfgang Muthspiel and guitar.

Visiones - From a concert in Austria featuring guitarists Mick Goodrick and Wolfgang Muthspiel. Starting with a free guitar duo which gradually moves into time the tune becomes very aggressive with lots of interesting interplay between the performers. A short drum solo at the end juxtaposes a different time on top of the basic meter.
